[ Yorkville Big Band ]
This is one sensational 22 piece orchestra. They have been rehearsing together, and playing together, and gigging all around now for over 7 years. They have a "book" that not only features all the great hum-able, dance-able, foot stomping, hand clapping tunes of the Big Band era, but also many of the newest millenium hits. AND, if you need that one particular Tune for your particular event, they'll get it. The band's vocal department is something very special too. They have 2 singers, Dean Potter and Gloria Van who really know how to present the music (from the heart). Gloria Van will be 80 years old on Aug. 2000, and still has that great voice. Gloria, who sang with many of the big bands back in the early 1940's, has a legion of devoted fans. Did you know that she was married on the Gene Krupa bandstand to Lynn Allison, - who played tenor sax and later sang with the overseas band of Glenn Miller. Whatever your function, be it Civic, Corporate or just a Private little Gala, this is the band that will make it exciting and memorable. Nominally based in Yorkville, IL, the band does tour a very, very wide area.
