[ Magnolia Jazz Band ]
Although the Band regularly performs with up to seven musicians, the nucleus of the band is Robbie Schlosser, cornet & string bass; Bill Napier, clarinet; and Larry Scala, guitar & banjo. Robbie Schlosser formed the Magnolia Jazz Band in 1975. Moving to northern California in the early '70s, he joined the South Bay Traditional Jazz Society where he met many of the musicians he would work with over the next 20-plus years. In the early 1980's, the Magnolia Jazz Band made seven recordings, toured nationally, and was a popular favorite at many jazz festivals. They performed occasionally with the famous 'Preservation Hall Jazz Band' in New Orleans. From 1991-1997, Schlosser appeared regularly with the Butch Thompson Trio, which received national fame on Garrison Keillor's PBS radio program, 'A Prairie Home Companion'. Robbie also free-lances occasionally with other local bands, including Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band, The Hot Club of San Francisco, Hal Smith's California Rhythm Cats, and Big Mama Sue. This fine band, based in Chevy Chase, MD, has been performing around the Greater Metro Washington, DC, Area (Virginia, Maryland, and DC) for the past 15 years. The musicians are among the nation's finest, with many hailing from the outstanding military jazz bands stationed in this area.    [ The Sultans of Swing ]
This wonderful full size 17 piece orchestra, led by Matt Gerhardt, has a playbook with music that ranges from the great 1940s standards to the newest millenium hits; - music that's well suited for dancing the fox-trot, both East and West Coast Swing, the Lindy Hop, Rhumba, and other latin and novelty tunes. And, the vocal stylings of the lovely and talented Judy Ferrari and Bud Sonderman add romance and excitement to the proceedings. Formed in 1997, 'The Sultans of Swing' has built a large following of enthusiatic and loyal fans. Among other appearances, the band has played at 'The Usual', (a nightclub) in San Jose; the Cities of Santa Clara and Campbell (for concert in the park events), and for other private events including churches, and fund raisers.

He is well known internationally as one of Britain's most versatile performers and the band is one of Britains most versatile orchestras, playing great music for Dancing, concerts, TV, Radio, Recording, and all manner of other functions that require musical excitement and excellence. This great 15 piece dance band is based in Chico, CA (80 miles north of Sacramento). The band plays true swing music, with many arrangements taken directly from original 78 recordings (Glenn Miller, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Kay Kayser, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Etc.). They are a dance band, first, last and always. Although they can play big band straight ahead jazz, and often do in rehearsal, the public hears only good, danceable music and familiar melodies. Yes, the band does play latin: beguines, mambos, cha cha's, rhumba's and tango's, mostly taken from Prez Prado, Xavier Cougat and other quality latin bands. And, they play waltz's too.

Swing Unlimited was originally formed in 1979 as the Battelle Swing Band. This is one fine orchestra. Bennie Gibbs leads, sings, and plays guitar, while Dennis Gurwell plays accordion, A.J. Gibbs on drums, Dempsey Pappion on Rub board (Dempsey is from Lake Charles, LA), and B. J. Deculus rounds out the rhythm section on bass. (B. J. is from Basile, Louisiana and is a cousin of Queen Ida Guillory). So if you're looking for 'real' zydeco', this band has the 'right stuff'. While they are based in the Los Angeles -Long Beach area of Southern California, they tour the entire Southwest area, including California, Arizona and Nevada. They were a regular fixture at the Alligator Lounge's Chank-A-Chank Sunday nights, as well as bi-monthly Cajun & Zydeco dances held in South Pasadena sponsored by the Southern California Music and Dance Conservancy. They have also opened the Simi Valley Cajun/Creole Festival twice and the Long Beach Cajun and Zydeco Festival once. This is one great trio that specializes in Big Band, Standards and Swing music from the 40's, 50's and 60's - and also throws in some Jazz, r&r, Latin and Country when the mood strikes. Close harmonies and outstanding instrumentals are the band's forte - and they adjust their sound levels and musical genres to suit a dinner, dancing or large party situation. The band includes very talented, seasoned musicians: Gino Serrenato plays the Kurzweil keyboard (a "genius" who recreates all of the big band instruments - live!), Doug Lang on the drums (you'll think you're back in the 40's when you hear this guy), and Gilley Somers, who does an outstanding job of recreating the sounds and arrangements of the big band girl singers - and she has some pretty groovy original sounds of her own!
SWINGSILVER is based in the Los Angeles/Long Beach, CA area, performing in many fine local restaurants, cafes, country clubs, etc. - but they do tour widely.
