Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Razzama Jazz Big Band is a 21 member band that performs in the tradition of Basie, Ellington, Nestico and others. We add variety with arrangements of some more recent popular tunes, as well as some original charts. The Razzama Jazz Big Band was established as an independent band in 2001, many of the musicians having played together before that. We perform in a variety of settings in the Calgary area, but our repertoire is danceable, and we get a kick out of seeing folks dancing to our music. This great band was formed in 1999, when previous bandleader, Eddie Osborn, gave his big band library to Don Krysl to continue the promotion of Swing Band music in the area. Since then, the band continues to perform the old swing greats from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louie Prima, Tommy Dorsey, and Miss Peggy Lee vocals. The band enjoys performing both concert and dance venues in Nebraska and most recently performed at the Deshler Tribute/Legion Benefit Concert to raise funds for the Legion Club destroyed by tornados.

Cary Richards hails originally from Houston, Texas. He started performing professionally with his own big band at the age of 20 in 1977. From then until 1996 the band worked regularly - at one time appearing 6 nights a week in various night clubs in 1983. From 1990 until 1996, Cary hosted the very popular "Big Band Show" on KQUE-FM radio. A radio job offer brought Cary to Dallas im 1996 with KAAM-AM radio. A year later, his Dallas band debuted at the Hotel Adolphus and has been working regularly ever since having become a favorite with Metroplex audiences. The band has also been featured on cruises with Radisson Seven Seas cruises to Alaska and Montreal. The band's repertoire consists of over 600 orchestrations written 'as recorded' by the greats of the big band era. In order that the arrangements sound 'true', Cary regularly employs a band of not less than 14 musicians. Having appeared in most of the major hotels and night spots in Houston and Dallas, the band's current home is the Fairmont Hotel, formerly the home of the late Jerry Gray Orchestra.

This band, formed in 1975, in the building at 68 Hospital Street, became known as the '68 Jazz Big Band'. It's a great big band with 6 sax's (2 alto, 1 baritone, 3 tenors), trumpets, trombone, and a rhythm section of Piano, Acoustic double-bass, guitar, and drums. They are an enthusiastic group of excellent musicians, including 2 young ladies, and some young students, who love to play the type of music you love to hear. In addition to their gigs, they meet once a week for practice and training. Basically, the band plays all of the wonderful music from 1930 - 1987, - and the Swing era music of Count Basie, Duke Ellingto, Woody Herman, Quincy Jones, Peter Herbolzeimer, and others. They have performed in France, in Germany, in Switzerland, mainly at big Jazz clubs, or Big Band sessions.
