[ Kenny Vance and The Planotones ] Among today's great vocal pop musicians, they have voices of original and inviting dimension. This vocal group presents doo wop in it's purest form, and can they ever sing up a storm. The Planotones, Kenny Vance, Angel Rissoff, Kurt "Frenchy" Yahjian, and guitarist Johnny Gale, re-define oldies with vocal authority and freshness. Their material is influenced by the music of the 50's and 60's, but they consistently bring a unique and musically sophisticated point of view. In this sense they are classicists, opening the eyes of a new generation to a rich historical musical style. With their cool and sultry musical approach, filtered through a "Brooklyn vibe", they give a gift to those who are discovering them for the first time.

[ Red Peters and her Solid Senders ] Red Peters has been described as "The Little Fireball with the Big Voice". A blues-shouter in the old tradition, "Red" lists as her influences the likes of Wynonie Harris, Big Maybelle and Big Mama Thornton. The band's live, all-action shows have become legendary and their hard hitting brand of early 50's Rhythm'n'Blues has made them a hot property on today's Rock'n'Roll scene. They have played most countries in Europe, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland and Belgium. But a favourite of their's has to be Switzerland where they have always been made so welcome, "It's like our second home!" But although they have travelled far they have also enjoyed playing venues nearer home such as London's famous 100 club and 'Maddys Jiving Jamboree' in Ealing. Red and the boys also had the privilege to play before Princess Margaret at a private party with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. The band was also the opening act at the first 'Rhythm Riot' R&B weekenders to be held in Camber Sands. For much more information than we can give here, contact "Red" today, and be sure to

[ The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, Directed by Michael Law ] This orchestra was founded in 1988 by musical director, singer and pianist Michael Law to play the great popular music of the 1920's and 30's, hopefully with a distinctively British style. The orchestra plays as an 11, 12, 14 and 15 piece band. The 12 piece has played at The Savoy Hotel on Saturday nights since October 1997, and is thrilled to be following in the footsteps of earlier famous Savoy bands such as Carroll Gibbons, Geraldo, Fred Elizalde etc. This is the first time the Savoy has had regular big band dancing since the 1960's. To make a nice link with the past, the band play's some of the same musical arrangements that Carroll Gibbons recorded, such as "It's D'Lovely," "Change Partners," "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" and "Keepin' Out Of Mischief Now." We also play transriptions of Jack Hylton's "If I Had A Talking Picture Of You" and "Happy Feet." Four albums have been released and a fifth due out this year to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The band has broadcasted for BBC Radio 2 and 3 and BBC TV. Nothing surpasses the experience of a live band, but the Piccadilly Orchestra adds an additional spark that makes any function, corporate or civil, a huge success.

[ Paddies on the Tundra ] This is one lively and truly exciting dance band. They play accordion, flute and whistle, guitar, fiddle, and bodhr, and specialize in music from the Canadian arctic. Southern Canadians call their music Celtic jigs, reels, polkas, and waltzes. The Inuit call it Inuktitut dance music. In the nineteenth century whalers from Scotland and Ireland brought Celtic music to the arctic. The Inuit were delighted, and quickly learned to play; many became expert fiddlers and accordion players, giving a new feel to the old music. The whalers' music became part of Inuit culture and the tunes passed down through the generations. Inuit musicians still play them. Whether you call it Celtic or Inuktitut, the Paddies' music will make you smile. 'Paddies on the Tundra' regularly play for Inuit parties and other northern events in Ottawa, where their music brings a bit of home to Inuit living far from the north. They performed at Qaggiq, the Inuit cultural festival held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and at the 1996 and 1997 Ottawa Folk Festivals. They were featured by La Grande Vir, the festival of traditional music in Hull, Quec. These tunes are for everyone. The Paddies bring laughter to many faces, set all kinds of toes tapping, and send people of all shapes and sizes heading for the dance floor. We can't tell you all the good things about this band, so be sure to visit their website.

[ The Bill Porter Orch. ] Bil attended high school in Chicago, where he excelled in both music and sports. During WW II, Bill served in the U. S. Air Force Band. He subsequently toured with Stan Kenton, Harry James, Buddy Rich and Woody Herman, and was soon recognized as one of America's fine trombonists. When the war ended, he returned home to raise a family. Bill joined the staff of WGN-TV. As an educator; he taught in area colleges; was featured at jazz festivals; played on hundreds of albums and commercials, and toured as jazz clinician. Bill organized his own orchestra and soon became one of Chicago's top bandleaders, including his stint at the Moulin Rouge Supper Club in the Fairmont Hotel. In 1990, he joined Frank Sinatra's orchestra and toured with "Ole Blue Eyes" until his Sinatra's retirement. It was Sinatra who encouraged Bill to sing and expand his talents. It was great advice. Though homebased in Chicago, IL, this great band does tour a very wide area.

It's a true big band with a (usual) line up of 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, and 4 rhythm, plus a terrific female vocalist. The players are a combination of music instrumental teachers, music students and good keen amatuers (who should have been pros but chose the security of 'sensible' professions when they were younger!). Their repertoire ranges from the inevitable Miller/Ellington tunes through to one of Bob Currnow's, as well as Pat Metheny arrangements and original material by Kris Berg. [ The Plenty Vacuum ] This Big Band consists of young Swiss musicians. They play a wide range of music, including not only the "standards" of the Jazz era,
but some rock, funk, and the very newest Pop. The enthusiasm of the young musicians,-matched only by their musical skill, brings that
special excitement to every function that only a Live Big Band can provide. Whatever your function, Civic, Corporate, Concert, or just a great
private Gala, you will find that 'Plenty Volume" will be just perfect -- and perfectly affordable -- for your special event.
Was fr The Plenty Vacuum zlt ist Spass an der Musik.
