Dr.Warren C. "Doc" Butts, a lifelong St. Louisan, formed this wonderful band in 1949, while he was still in high school, and they've been playing continuously ever since. The group is a full 21-piece big band: five saxes, four trombones, five trumpets, four rhythm section players, the leader and two vocalists. Several of the musicians are veterans of name big bands, including Stan Kenton, Harry James, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman and Gene Krupa, - even alumni of the St.Louis Symphony Orchestra. The band performs at private events, concerts and dances mostly in the St. Louis, Missouri, area, but sometimes as far away as 200 miles. Band members are required to attend weekly three-hour rehearsals. The 3200+ musician-hours per year result in tight, high-quality musical performances. The band can play over 400 songs -- about half are vocals -- and all original Glenn Miller, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Harry James, Gene Krupa, Duke Ellington and Claude Thornhill arrangements. Whatever your event, - civic, corporate, or private - this is one fine band that will add glamour and real excitement.

TOP   [ Albin Kristof Violin Orchestra ]

History:

This band was created 25 years ago in the town of Roznava - Slovakia. Albin Kristof, who plays accordion and is one of the Bands founding members, is the present leader of the band. Some of the previous band members left to other countries, where they play now days, some of them decided to become teachers, to educate the young generation of rising musicians.

Presence:

For the last couple of years band has only performed in its home town, and in its surrounding area. Later on they started a co-operation with the association called THE SINGING VIOLIN. With the help of this association, a gypsy orchestra consisting of 110 musicians was created. The Albin Kristof band became the heart of this orchestra. Currently the number of the band members varies, from 3 up to 11 members, which all depends on how high are the requirements for a certain musical performance or a concert. The musical production is aimed at Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, German and of course Gypsy folk and dance music. The variety of songs is always suited to the particular needs of the customers, or special requirements for any occasions. And last but not least, we also perform different songs from the world music and even our own cover versions of classical music and pop songs music.

Performances:

The band has had a successful concert tour, where they performed in Germany, Hungary and the Czech republic, and their (3) television music shows called MARMELADA, broadcasted by the RVTV made them very popular as well. Their performance during the International Conference European Social Week, which tock place in Bratislava, was also very successful and created a great atmosphere.
The (first) biggest concert in their town, took place on 25th of April 2002. The name of concert was Vesely koncert and it became the base for the following concerts for the home town audience. A great challenge for the band is also to perform on home town events, balls, New Years Eves celebrations, family anniversaries, or the charity (which also contributes to the rising of life standards of many people).
