"JIMMY CARA AND THE SOUND OF BRASS"
This 15 piece band is made up of top caliber musicians who are as comfortable on the concert stage as they are playing dance music for your event. The band will get the dancers out on the floor, and keep them there, with a mixture of tempos and selections that will make everybody happy. You will hear the music of Miller, Dorsey, Goodman and James.. the vocal hits of Sinatra, Bennett and much, much more. Although tied to the heritage of the Swing era this band has the feel of today.... For An Exiting Evening Of Dancing Or Entertainment....This Is The Band For You!
"THE HARRY JAMES TRIBUTE ORCHESTRA"
This show is best suited for the concert stage. It features the music made famous by the legendary trumpet player Harry James and his swinging orchestras. After a show stopping opening, the band and Jimmy settle down to take you on a nostalgic journey through the life, times and hits of this great musician. With narration and music you will learn about "the man ... and his horn" and how such hits as "You Made Me Love You", "I've Heard That Song Before", "The Flight Of The Bumblebee", and more came to be. Don't Miss Having This Show!
"TOGETHER AGAIN - A TRIBUTE TO HARRY JAMES AND GENE KRUPA"
This is a new show in production now. Harry James and Gene Krupa were two of the strongest influences in the big band era. They were together with....and added the fuel to fire up.... the great Benny Goodman band. Then each went his own way to make history. In this show Jimmy teams up with an exciting drummer Tim Laushey, also from Wilmington, DE. At the age of 15, Tim studied with Krupa and later attended Berkley School Of Music. His drumming has sparked the Jimmy Dorsey, Warren Covington and Nelson Riddle Orchestras, as well as Myron Floren, and Julius LaRosa. He has been the subject of a featured article in "Modern Drummer" magazine and is one of the most exciting drummers you will ever hear. This show starts off with Goodman's famous "Sing, Sing, Sing" and goes from there. Most big band shows end with that arrangement......don't worry this one does also .... but with a surprise finish. You will also hear "Drum Boogie", "Drummer Man" and the Krupa/Eldridge classic.."After You've Gone". This Show Will Be Available Shortly.. So Book It Now!

TOP   [ Larry Carringer Solo Show ]
I offer live ballroom dance and dinner music (big band, continental and Latin), primarily from the period of 1935-1955. The "standards," especially the hits of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, are the core of my material. I began work as a solo act in 1992, and I utilize dual Yamaha DX7 synthesizers, with a rhythm sideman unit, for a unique trio sound. I learn and play by ear, and my current reportoire exceeds 1200 arrangements, all memorized and available upon request. My aim with this act was always to preserve the best traditions of the big-band era and ballroom dancing, and to offer the best in ballroom dance music at reasonable rates. Thus far, the act has been particularly successful for senior centers, country clubs, private dance groups and special events such as anniversary parties.

TOP   [ The Top Hats Orch. ]
The TopHats Orchestra is a 10 piece swing/ bigband. Playing in and around the Virginia , Washington DC, and North Carolina area for more than 30 years. We carry more than 500 well rehersed and ready to play charts(arrangements)in our "book". Everything from the "old stock sounds" of the 1940's to the hard driving sounds of later years. Our motto is "music designed with dancers in mind", and we stick to it. When we play ,the floor fills up with dancers and stays that way until the evening is over, with old and young alike. We strive to play "As recorded by"arrangements from all the big name bands from years gone by: Harry James, Tommy Dorsey , Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, and so many more. Everyone in the band is a featured soloist at some time during the preformance, whether it be on his instrument or as a vocal. Five of the ten members sing, and all are masters of there own instruments. Our instrumentation is as such: four saxophone players who all double on multiple horns such as clarinet, flute, saprano, and all four play baritone sax as well. Three trumpet players who also double on flugelhorn, and sing. Piano, drums and bass. so our flexibility is unlimited.

TOP   [ Judy Chamberlain Jazz and Swing Orchestra ]
BAND INFORMATION: LOS ANGELES - PALM SPRINGS
PURE OLD FASHIONED GLAMOUR....
SWINGING MUSIC FOR DANCING AND ROMANCING
Spontaneous, sometimes outrageous - and always a pure delight to watch and listen to, Judy Chamberlain is in a league of her own. The talented singer and bandleader is a "walking encyclopedia of American music." She's also a genius at reading a crowd. Chamberlain and her amazing musicians romp thru an amazing 4,000 tune repertoire that spans all the decades of Tin Pan Alley, Pop, Swing, Big Band and the Great American Songbook - with the kind of interaction that comes from knowing the material so well that no "charts" are needed onstage. "The charts are in our heads," says Chamberlain, "and the music is in our hearts." Audiences agree, and so do the critics. "She makes you want to laugh and cry, dance and drink martini all night," says one. Adds another: "When Judy Chamberlain is in the house, the joint is always jumpin'."

Chamberlain works all over Southern California - in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Palm Springs. Arrangements can be made to bring the band to other locations, as well.

TOP   [ Bob Cary Orchestra ]
Bob Cary started his orchestra in Providence Rhode Island in 1959. Worked all over New England and New York City. Migrated into Canada in 1972 and has been semi-active to present. This is a 19 piece jazz oriented dance band playing every style of music, but mostly ballroom and swing. The orchestra performs occasionally now but always available. Bob has played solo and lead trumpet with the top acts and performers in show business along with many big name bands with 50 years of experience and shows no sign of slowing down. Studied at Berklee School of Music in the late 1950s and does most of his own arrangements. This is not a stock or copy band. When booked, Bob uses only the top musicians in Toronto and demands their best. The band is dressed and performs like the big name bands of the past. All planed and rehearsed and very professional. Mostly a commercial band molded after Ted Heath's band. Available for concerts as well as dances. Bob Cary has been noted as one of the finest trumpet players but this seams to be a well kept secret.

TOP   [ Randy Brooks Orchestra ]
Randy Brooks was a star trumpet player of the 1940s with such 2 million seller hits for Decca Records as "Tenderly" and "The Man With The Horn". "Harlem Nocturne" was another one of his big hits. In 1950, at the height of his career, Randy suffered a stroke and the man with the Golden Trumpet remained silent until his death in 1967. Bob Cary has taken on the responsibility of creating a memorial band for the late Randy Brooks and the band is still available. Started in 1993, it remains semi-active. Along with his own band, Bob does on occasion front the Randy Brooks Orchestra. Bob has also written a book about the life of Randy Brooks. His music and memory still remains a mystery. This band is a special for theme nights, nostalgia big band swing only.
