What is this band? Well, it's Hot jazz!! it's Dixieland!! it's Swing!! it's Ragtime!! and the Blues!! And lots More!! It's New Orleans Jazz With Jazzy Three-Part Harmony Vocals and a Hot Band. Jazzology's 1996 Poll published in its 'Jazzbeat' magazine named CanUS to be #2 in the category: Best New Band (U.S.A.). Originally formed as a quartet in 1991, they can be augmented to five, six, or seven by adding reeds. Their quartet recordings still sound full by the talent of Jim Armstrong playing both trumpet and trombone. The two keys to their popularity is the wonderful enthusiasm of the musicians, and being able to select from a vast repertoire to suit the occasion - be it a jazz festival stage or a New Year's Eve dance. Band based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, England. The ConChord Big Band was formed 10 years ago and is made up of local musicians - music teachers, engineers, accountants, and representatives of a variety of other occupations, both male and female, aged from their 20`s to their 70`s. ConChord has a vast library and an extensive working repertoire, and performs Big Band favourites, jazz, swing, Latin, popular music and show tunes. This Big Band has a library that covers from the 30's up to Thad Jones/Mel Lewis. Many arraingements are written by co-leader and painist Ron Corsaro. Ron is an accomplished jazz piano player and arrainger who has numerous CD recordings to his credit, including several with Jazz great Don Menza. Ray is a woodwind player who served as director of a U.S. Army band. They perform in the western N.Y. area and will consider traveling further. They peform in formal and informal dance setting, concert setting and they also have backed many big name performers.
