[ The Ambassadors Big Band ]
Mike Letovsky is the Musical Director of this great Swinging 17 member orchestra that features everything from the original Swing era standards to the newest millenium hits. The band, formed in 1957, performs music from the 1930's to the present, in a true big band style. They also play many ballroom dance styles, - from waltzes to latins, and dancers just love the way they keep the correct dance 'beat'. They are one of the few bands that not only feature male and female solo vocalists, but a wonderful vocal quartet, - 'The Diplomats'. While homebased in the Ann Arbor area (Milford), they do tour a very wide area, traveling from Hillsdale to Lansing, Bay City, to Lexington, to Detroit, MI. Incidentally, if you are in the area, do go and see them perform at Top of The Park in Ann Arbor every summer. Mike also has a smaller 'band within a band' called "Freestyle". This 5-8 piece group plays swing standards, ballroom and pop music. With male and female vocalist, up to three horns and a four piece rhythm section, the group is extremely versatile, and great for those smaller venues. One of these two groups will be perfect - and perfectly affordable - for your special function. The Ambassadors Big Band is just right for Civic, Corporate or large Galas, while Freestyle is just wonderful at Wedding, dances, banquets, concerts and such. If you're planning an event, get in touch with Mike now. His experience will definitely help, and you'll be glad you called.

[ David Aaron Big Band ]
Duke Ellington was once quoted as saying "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing", and swing is just what The David Aaron Big Band is all
about. This incredible big band is considered by its huge following as one of the best big bands ever put together.
Composed of 8 brass, 5 reeds, 4 rhythm and singers, the band is led and fronted by clarinetist David Aaron, whose sound, technique and style of
playing has been compared in many ways to the great Benny Goodman.
The David Aaron Big Band was started in the 1980's as a challenge from a caterer who "dared" the leader to put together a big band for a special
promotion he was planning. Since then, the band has never stopped working.
The band has appeared primarily throughout New Jersey and New York. In the late 1980's, David Aaron was invited to submit an audition tape to Bell
Telephone for an event they were planning in Vermont. From all the audition tapes submitted, our band was the one that was chosen. Interestingly, that
early band can't be compared to the band of today.
This big band has performed at conventions, country clubs, dinner dances, fund raisers, nostalgia balls, concerts, shows, jazz clubs, school
assemblies, grand opening celebrations, plus many corporate, political and private family functions. It was a regular Monday night feature on a "Let's
Dance" local television program that ran for 13 weeks.
In addition to the many great arrangements in the book, the library includes the most requested hits of Miller, Dorsey, Goodman, Shaw and other
swing era big bands.
Besides the big band, David Aaron also leads a swinging little five piece group composed of clarinet, guitar, bass, piano and drums. Performing at
every type of function, the Quintet plays for dining and dancing in the style of the small Goodman ensembles. The Quintet features exciting arrangements,
all performed by outstanding soloists. If big or small band swing is your thing...then The David Aaron Band is for you.

[ "A Swingin' Affair" ]
"A Swingin' Affair" specializes in finger poppin' favorites from the swing era mixed with the wild & sophisticated sounds of the cocktail set, sultry
ballads, latin rhythms and jazz standards. Covering a wide range of styles and emotions, the band's large repertoire makes them perfect for virtually
any occasion. With a home base in Santa Rosa, they perform throughout the Napa and Sonoma Valley providing music for concerts, wine country weddings,
corporate events, and even small private affairs. Singing freshness into time tested melodies, Claire Victor delivers an evocative, rich alto voice
in her solo work, then slides into a smooth and inviting blend of vocal textures as other band members join in the muse. While the musical
arrangements of pianist Grant Johnson are definite and tight, a jazz attitude allows for spontaneity and group exploration. This, and a good
sense of humor, is projected beyond the boundaries of stage and into the audience. (Demo tape available)

[ The Ray Abrams Big Band ]
The Ray Abrams (17-piece) Big Band is a virtual history of the NY jazz scene, being one of three New York Jazz/Swing music entities that dominated local music for many years. Today, it remains as one of the premier classic-jazz/swing band exponents playing in the NY-NJ-CT, tri-state area.
The band's book of musical arrangements is lengthy and well rounded, featuring those tunes written in the style of the music played by the bands of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Q. Jones, F. Foster, W. Herman, S. Nistico, etc.
The band is totally dedicated to the public enjoyment of music by showcasing the standard love ballads and the happy, finger-snapping, toe-tapping songs of The Great American Classic-Jazz Songbook. It executes each with great authenticity. This conveys why the band is successful at making each affair in which it plays, be it: dance-concert-wedding-anniversary-jazz festival, etc., a memorable event.
Our female stylist/vocalist, Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch is a total joy to listen to and she consistently receives standing ovations from most appreciative audiences.
