Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2001 23:06:09 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Torme/Paich arrangements Hello, I am a big band singer. About four years ago I caught an illness. Slight vocal paralysis (drop in vocal range) was the outcome. It took many doctors/appointments to diagnose the problem and even more to search out ways to treat it. I've tried it all. But paralysis, even a slight one, is incurable. I haven't sung publicly since the illness. Now that I'm a tenor I need
to build a new library of big band arrangements. I don't like the generic,
stock arrangements I've seen in catalogs. Mel Torme had the most wonderful
big band arrangements, especially those written by Marty Paich (a la "To
Close For Comfort"). Has anyone out their transcribed them? If there are no
transcriptions out there. I would pay to have them completed. Thanks,
Jeanette

I am not technically a professional, but have lots of experience playing charitable & fundraising gigs, (dances, festivals, etc.), and rehearsing regularly. I have a portable electric piano and amp for gigs, and would sure love to hear from someone in southern California within a reasonable distance of Irvine if you know of a big band that needs a piano player, even as a sub at rehearsals to get connected musically.I can sight read most most chord changes for comping. I have made my living a a professional singer and am currently a member of a 9 piece band in New England. I have always wanted to sing in a big band, I've got the right look, (blonde, slim and attractive) and a very strong rangy voice. I would be happy to send a tape, picture and my promotional materials to any big bands interested in the East coast area. Thanks! eMail: Ladybird111@aol.com, Kimberly NEW Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2000 10:02:46 -0000 I am another poor soul severely bitten by the music bug as a young man. The old "infection" just never quite goes away for those of us who truly love the music of the Big Bands. My apprenticeship was here in the UK working the Ballrooms in residency with some of the best musicians in the world , and names such as Oscar Rabin, Cyril Stapleton, Johnny Howard and Ray McVey. The craft of the Singer, learned with the encouragement of many of those wonderful guys, is indelible . Now , as Francis Albert would say "In the September of my years" I would dearly love to hear that irreplaceable sound of a tight rhythm section, and loads of reed and brass behind me once again, in a swinging Basie, Riddle, or Rich arrangement of the classic Sinatra Legacy. So, if there is anyone interested in a Vocalist whose mature years are in keeping with the musical era, who still looks good enough to front a Band, working in the area of South London, Surrey/Bershire/Hampshire. Please contact me and I'll gladly supply the usual Demo CD of current recordings. eMail: john-cba@dircon.co.uk, John Pettitt Subject: Looking for song I would like to get a copy of an old song by the George Wallace orchestra and sung by Scrappy Lambert: Cheerio, Cherry Lips, Cheerio.
